Show Rules and Fees
- COGGINS: Negative Coggins within 12 months required (Photocopy required). NC State law (effective Oct 1, 1999) requires that any horse not in possession of a current negative Coggins MUST be refused admission to the grounds. A copy of the Coggins must be visible on the front of each stall for inspection. All fines are passed on to the exhibitor.
- AWARDS: Ribbons will be awarded up to 6th place, with exception to the Open and Wee Derbies which will award to 10th place; Riders (equitation divisions) and/or horses (hunter divisions) must attend at least three shows in order to qualify for year-end awards.
- CLASS ADDS and SCRATCHES: Adds and scratches must be made in the horse show office on the official form before the division begins. All scratches after the division begins will result in the full cost of the classes.
- Denoted classes are governed by the rules and specifications set by the current NCHJA rule book.
- SHOW ATTIRE AND HARD HATS: Proper show attire is required. Hard hats/helmets must be worn at all times while mounted. Juniors must have ASTM approved helmets with harness securely fastened. Properly fitted helmets are required in accordance with USEF GR 80L.
- SCHOOLING: Schooling is permitted on Friday beginning at 2 pm and on show days from 7 am – 8 am, and at the completion of Saturday’s classes, time permitting - DERBY COURSE WALK: Course walk will take place 30 minutes after the last class prior to the derby and may include walking horse
- STABLING: Stalls are available Friday to Sunday. Stall reservations and bedding orders should be made in advance through the show listing on Horseshows Online (www.horseshowsonline.com) website.
- MEDICAL WASTE: Sharps containers are located in all stabling barns. Exhibitors are responsible for properly disposing of waste or risk incurring fines or other penalties as determined by the show manager.
- DOGS: All dogs must be leashed and under control of the owner or responsible person at all times. Owners who fail to comply may be subject to fines. Owners must have evidence of their dog’s current rabies vaccination.
- CAMPERS: There are a limited number of camper spaces with water and electrical hook-ups for $40/night. All reservations should be made at time of check-in in the show office. There is a common dump station behind the barns, between Barns C/D and E/F. Tanks should not be emptied at the camp sites.
- FEES: Fees are broken down as follows:
SHOW MANAGEMENT STATEMENT: This show is recognized by both USEF and NCHJA. Any questions or disputes which arise that are not specifically provided for shall be referred to the show committee whose decision shall be final. The show management reserves the right to postpone, reschedule, combine or cancel any class or classes, as well as any future show dates due to low entries, inclement weather, or other unforeseen circumstances such as lack of available hotels or other inadequate show conditions. All show staff and volunteers will not be held responsible for a loss, accident, or injury during any show. Entry onto these grounds constitutes agreement and knowledge. All decisions by the judge(s) are final. Any act of discourtesy or disobedience to the judges or show staff on the part of the owner, manager, rider, or groom shall disqualify the horse, and the owner shall forfeit their entry and other fees. The show management reserves the right to prohibit any persons from attending or showing a horse in the ring and to remove any trailer or horse from the Show without being liable for compensation. No person is allowed in the ring during judging except the rider and horse, and those who have official or requested duties to perform.
