Class Descriptions
Short Stirrup Hunter, Pony Hunter, Children’s Hunter, Adult Amateur Hunter, Jr/Amateur Hunter, Low Ch/Ad Hunter, Age Group Eq, and NCHJA Equitation Medals are run in accordance with NCHJA rules.
Walk/Trot - open to beginner riders; may not cross enter into any other division.
Beginner Crossrails - open to beginner riders of any age in their first 2 years of showing over fences; may not cross enter into any other division or class at the show where the fences exceed 18”.
Walk/Trot & Beginner Crossrails may be divided by age (12 & Under and 13 & Over) if entries warrant.
Long Stirrup - open to riders 13 years of age or older on a horse or pony. Riders may not cross enter into any other division at the show where fences exceed 2’. Course to consist of 8 jumps set at 2’ with no oxers or combinations.
Schooling, Low and Open Divisions - open to all horses and riders.
Pony Divisions - Small ponies are not to exceed 12.2 hands, medium ponies are ponies over 12.2 hands but not exceeding 13.2 hands; and large ponies are ponies over 13.2 hands but not exceeding 14.2 hands. No junior over 12 years of age may compete with the SM/MED Pony Division/Classes on a small pony. No junior over 14 years of age may compete in the SM/MED Pony Division/Classes on a medium pony. All riders for the Large Pony Division/Classes must be under 18 years of age.
**NOTE: Riders (equitation divisions) and/or horses (hunter divisions) must attend at least three shows in order to qualify for year-end awards.
